This first days are in the books, and what a successful start it was!!!!! Can't wait to dig in and start our learning process. We will work on creating good habits and establishing routines for a successful year.
We will be following the ideas form Jon Gordon, author of The Energy Bus for Kids. It's all about positivity and setting sites on the destination of success. There are just a few simple rules/expectations:
I read the book to students last year, but we have reminders in the room of the rules to help stay positive. Here they are below.
Room 315 is a “Positive Energy” classroom. The idea is staying positive to overcome challenges. So jump on the Energy Bus.
1. Create a Positive Vision.
Think about having a great day. Picture/imagine yourself having a great day.
2. Fuel your ride with Positive Energy.
Positive energy is the positive thoughts and emotions you think and feel, and share with others. It helps you move forward.
3. No Bullies Allowed.
Stay strong and positive and know that bullies can’t drain your positive energy if you don’t let their negativity into your mind. Positivity is much more powerful than negativity!!!!!!
4. Love Your Passengers.
This means you become a powerful force of positive energy and share love with your passengers.
(students, friends, teachers, siblings, family)
5. Enjoy the Ride.
You’re the driver and you can take your bus anywhere you want to go. To college or to a favorite place - wherever it may be.
We have also discuss the One Word Project and each student is currently working at choosing a word that will be their focus and motivator for the year.
